What is a Steaming Plate for Seiro?
A steaming plate is a useful tool when using a seiro with pots other than a wok. It is placed between the pot and the seiro. We offer steaming plates that fit 24cm seiro.

Even if you don't have a pot that perfectly fits your seiro, you can enjoy seiro cooking with your existing pot by using a steaming plate.
The steaming plate stabilizes the seiro, increases the water volume, and ensures thorough steaming. It also prevents scorching and extends the seiro's durability.
How to Use a Seiro with a Steaming Plate
Just having a steaming plate greatly improves the usability of your seiro. Try using it together with a Shoho brand seiro. *Be careful when handling, as it gets hot during use.

Single-handle pot (diameter 19cm) + Steaming Plate 33cm + Seiro 24cm
Double-handle pot (diameter 29cm) + Steaming Plate 33cm + Seiro 24cm
Important: Incompatible Pots
If the pot handles interfere, the steaming plate cannot sit level. Steam will leak through the gap and the seiro will tilt.
Spouts may cause steam to escape, making it difficult to steam properly. Please be aware.
Q&A
Is it dangerous to use a seiro without a steaming plate?
As long as direct flame doesn’t hit the seiro, it’s not dangerous. However, the seiro may scorch from the pot’s heat, so we recommend using a steaming plate.
How should I clean the steaming plate?
Wash thoroughly with a sponge and mild detergent. Avoid metal scrubbers and alkaline detergents, which can corrode aluminum.
Is it dishwasher-safe?
Hand washing is recommended as dishwashers may cause unintended scratches.
Does the steaming plate get hot?
Yes, it does. Especially immediately after steaming, please be cautious and avoid touching it directly.
