We ship worldwide direct from Tokyo, Japan. We offer two shipping methods for international orders; EMS, and Surface Mail. Meanwhile, we use Yamato Transport for domestic Japan delivery. All shipping fees are in Japanese Yen (¥). Please see the shipping information from the following table of contents.

*New Information: We regret to inform you that the e-packet shipping option will be discontinued by the Japanese Post Office. However, we will still continue providing the EMS and Surface Mail shipping option. Thank you for your understanding. (Updated September 28th 2023)

We categorized the international shipping fees based on the destination country’s area and shipping methods. The shipping fee includes packing fees. Please choose the country’s area to see the shipping fees.

Shipping Fee to ASIA Area

Available for EMS and Surface Mail Shipping: China, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia.

Available for only EMS shipping: Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Mongolia, Laos.

Available for only Surface Mail shipping: Myanmar.

Note to all customers shipping to the Philippines

There is a possibility of shipment delay to the Philippines. Please make sure to confirm with the Philippines Post Office they can accept the package before ordering. There have been cases where the package is stuck at the Manila Central Mail Exchange. If your package takes longer than usual to arrive, please contact the local post office, the package might be stuck at customs.

Calculating the Actual Shipping Cost

Check the actual shipping fee before making the order official. To do that, follow the steps below.

1. Add all desired items to the shopping cart.
2. Go to the checkout page and input the Contact Information and Shipping Address. Click “Continue to Shipping.”
3. See the actual shipping cost under the “Shipping method” section. (As shown in the image)

How to calculate shipping

Customs Duties and Taxes

All international shipments may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and fees by the customs authorities and levied once a shipment reaches the destination country.

We ship DDU (Delivery Duty Unpaid), so customers are responsible for fulfilling import duties. We have no control over these fees, nor can we predict what they may be.

Customs policies vary widely; you should contact your local customs office for more information. Prolonged customs clearance may cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates. Please fulfill the customs accordingly to receive the order.

Customs offices in some countries or regions require the buyer to provide some particular documents before releasing a shipment. Please contact us if you need product-related documents from the seller (exporter) for customs clearance.

Before ordering, please ensure you can import the products to your country. If the product is returned because it does not comply with the import regulations, it will be on customer's responsibility and refund is unavailable.

Order Tracking

We will typically process your order within 5-7 business days. Therefore, please calculate your order arrival date by totaling processing days + shipping days. Products with the label "made-by-order" products may take another 1-3 business days to process. We do not ship on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese holidays. In the case of delayed shipping, we will contact you by email.

Once the order is shipped, we will send the tracking number by email. Tracking information may take 72 hours after order fulfillment to be reflected. Please check the tracking for updates on the package’s whereabouts regularly.

In any case of unexpected shipment delay beyond the average shipping time caused by the shipping company that we cannot predict or control, it will not be the liability of Kawashimaya.

Customers are obliged to be contactable at any time in case of customs clearance and package arrival to prevent the package from returning to Japan, which can't be refunded.

Notice for Surface Mail: tracking information will be updated once the package reaches the destination country's port. This could take 1-3 months, depending on the destination. Therefore, please do not worry if the status remains "Dispatch from outward office of exchange" in Kawasaki Higashi Post Office, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

Shipping Restrictions

Although Japan Post ships to most countries, there may be a case when we can't ship to your country due to shipping restrictions. You'll be notified on the checkout page when we can't ship all/specific items to your country.

Coronavirus shipping restrictions: Shipment to some countries is temporarily suspended. We will update the available countries for shipment regularly.
