What is a Steaming Plate for Seiro?

A steaming plate is convenient when using a seiro (bamboo steamer) with pots other than a wok. It is placed between the pot and the seiro. We offer steaming plates that fit seiro with diameters of 24–27 cm.
This page is for the "Steaming Plate" product only.
※The seiro is sold separately.
Even if you don't have a pot that perfectly fits your seiro, using a steaming plate allows you to enjoy cooking with your existing pots.
The steaming plate helps stabilize the seiro, increases the amount of steam, and ensures thorough steaming. It also prevents burning of the seiro body, prolonging its lifespan.
How to Use a Seiro with a Steaming Plate
Having a steaming plate greatly improves the usability of your seiro. We recommend using it together with a Shoho seiro. ※ Please handle with care as it becomes hot during use.

Q&A
Is it dangerous to use a seiro without a steaming plate?
As long as the seiro is not exposed to direct flame, it is not dangerous. However, the seiro may burn due to the heat from the pot, so we recommend using a steaming plate.
How do I care for the steaming plate?
Wash thoroughly using a sponge with neutral detergent. Do not use metal scrubbers or alkaline cleaners such as bleach, as they can corrode the aluminum.
Is it dishwasher safe?
We recommend handwashing, as unintended scratches may occur in the dishwasher.
Does the steaming plate get hot?
Yes. Especially right after steaming, it becomes very hot. Please avoid touching it immediately.
