How is the taste and ease of use?
It was convenient and easy to use as it can be prepared simply by adding hot water. With 30 sachets in one pack, it’s ideal for making it a daily habit. Although it has the distinctive taste and aroma of Dokudami (houttuynia cordata), it’s relatively easy to drink, and I felt a pleasant sensation as the gentle bitterness, which is essential for detox, permeated my body.

Support Your Health with Dokudami Tea

Dokudamicha

This tea can help to discharge internal toxins for detox, smoothen the body circulation, making your skin beautiful, and freshen up stomach and head.

Dokudami has a long history, with references in Heian-period literature under the name "Shibuki" (之布岐). Also known as "Juyaku" (Ten Medicines), Dokudami was widely used as a folk remedy in the Edo period, with Dokudami tea becoming a popular health tea for easily consuming nutrients. Rich in minerals such as quercitrin, magnesium, potassium, rutin, chlorophyll, flavonoids, and vitamins, Dokudami has been attracting renewed attention recently due to the growing interest in health and natural products.

Who is this tea recommended for?
It seems like a great option for people who eat out frequently or have unbalanced diets due to its rich nutritional content. It's also especially recommended for those who drink alcohol or consume foods with additives, as well as people who tend to overeat.

Even if you’re health-conscious, we inevitably absorb pollutants like exhaust fumes from the air. Regularly incorporating something that helps cleanse your body from the inside, like Dokudami tea, can contribute to a healthier lifestyle.

Made with love by Yukimasa Okumoto of Fresh Farm Okumoto.

The producer, Fresh Farm Okumoto, is a farm located in Kamigori, Hyogo Prefecture, where they utilize their experience working as an agricultural extension officer in Hyogo. They specialize in cultivating crops with minimal or no use of pesticides, surrounded by the rich natural environment of the region.

"Dokudami tea seems difficult to drink.." It's the opposite!

Dokudami tea

Dokudami tea bags are surprisingly mild, with little bitterness or astringency, and a pleasantly roasted aroma similar to barley or hojicha tea. Since it’s not overly strong, it can also be blended with other teas. While fresh leaves have a strong odor, drying and heating them reduces the smell, making the tea easier to drink. It can be enjoyed with meals, and since it’s caffeine-free, it's safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and can be consumed before bedtime.

Dokudami tea bag biodegradable

Responding to customer requests for a more convenient cup-type version of Dokudami tea, we introduced this tea bag variety. The mesh tetrahedral shape allows the tea leaves to expand fully, making it easy to extract the tea.

The material is an eco-friendly plant-based biodegradable fiber made from corn, which can be disposed of as food waste after use.

How to Drink Dokudami Tea

Hot Tea

Put 3 tea bags in a pot, pour in 1 liter of water, and leave for at least 2 hours. You can enjoy it at your preferred strength.

Dokudami Tea Latte

Mix with soy milk or regular milk to make a Dokudami Tea Latte.

It's also delicious with honey, sugar, lemon, etc.

While the bitterness or astringency is hardly noticeable when drinking it as is, if you're giving it to children, the elderly, or if you want to enjoy a different flavor, mixing Dokudami tea with soy milk or milk can make it smoother and is highly recommended.

Dokudami tea bags can also be boiled together with other health teas for a delightful taste. Some great combinations are with barley, brown rice tea, or persimmon leaves. Mixing them gives a richer flavor that’s different from pure Dokudami tea.

What’s your recommended way to enjoy this tea?
Rather than sipping slowly throughout the day from a thermos, I feel it's best to drink it all at once, either in the morning or after coming home. Drinking it in the morning provides a sense of bodily balance and helps me feel energized for the day.
Since it’s rich in magnesium, potassium, antioxidants, and vitamins, it's also great after a few days of eating out or after overeating. I think it would pair well with traditional Japanese sweets too.

User's Voice

The roasted aroma made me instinctively bring the tea bag close to my nose to sniff it! I love this fragrance. The brewed tea tastes similar to hojicha and is easy to drink. Since it's caffeine-free, I let my child try it, and they said, “It’s tasty but a little bitter.” If you're giving it to children, you might want to brew it a bit more diluted with extra water. I used to repurchase Dokudami tea sold here before, but the new version uses Dokudami from Fresh Farm Okumoto! It’s the first time I’ve seen a Dokudami tea bag where you can see the face of the farmer. I’ve just started drinking it, but I’m already looking forward to the detoxifying effects on my digestive system! Female・40s

The aroma of Dokudami is faint, but not bothersome. It produces a beautiful color like black tea or roasted green tea, and the taste has no peculiarities, making it very easy to drink. When brewed strong, I noticed a subtle sweetness. Since it’s caffeine-free, I can drink it without worry. Female・40s

The unique, pleasant aroma of Dokudami is excellent. It’s the best Dokudami tea I’ve ever had. If you like Dokudami tea, you’ll definitely love this one. Female・30s
