About Organic Pressed Barley

This 100% domestically produced organic pressed barley is made from organic barley grown at Urabe Farm and is carefully produced under strict production management at an organic-certified factory in Japan.

The barley is milled to 70%, steamed, and rolled to create flakes, ensuring that its nutritional value is preserved. This process allows you to effectively and evenly consume high-quality dietary fiber.

Difference Between Pressed Barley and Pearl Barley

Pressed barley is pre-steamed and flattened to improve its water absorption and make it easier to eat. In contrast, pearl barley is simply polished without heat processing.

When cooked with rice
Pressed barley creates a soft texture with the rice due to its excellent water absorption, giving the meal a lighter feel than plain white rice. Pearl barley, on the other hand, has a chewy, elastic texture and requires thorough chewing, much like brown rice.

In these fields, microorganisms that break down organic matter thrive. Only the harvested crops leave the field, with rice straw and husks returned to the soil. The microorganisms decompose these materials, enriching the soil.

Message from Urabe Farm

Our farm's journey has been made possible by the support of many people. We continue to work with a sense of urgency, ensuring that our farm does not disappear without recognition of those important connections.

Reflecting on the past, we have faced many hardships, including times when there was no market for our products, being deceived by fraud, and having nothing to sell due to losing crops to weeds. Yet, thanks to the support of our customers and the opportunities we've been given, we have made it to where we are today.

Miraculously, our farm has been protected. All of our products, including soybeans, have been tested for contamination down to 1 becquerel, and no contamination has been detected.

We are fortunate to be able to share this information through letters to customers and through web platforms like this. The safe rice, barley, and soybeans we have carefully nurtured are in our hands, so we are confident that this is not the worst-case scenario.

We ask for your continued understanding and support.
