Organic Green Rooibos Tea

This is Kawashimaya's original green rooibos tea, made with carefully selected, high-quality tea leaves. Green rooibos is a non-fermented type of tea that has been fermented using a unique method, and is characterized by a clean, mellow taste without any peculiar flavor. It is richer in nutrients than the fermented type, and contains about four times as many polyphenols as the fermented type. We only use tea leaves that have been sterilized using the latest equipment, so it is also ideal for cold brewing. Please enjoy the fresh taste delivered from South Africa.
Straight from South Africa, this mild and gentle tasting rooibos tea is enjoyable for the whole family. Our organic green rooibos tea is caffeine-free and rich in polyphenol. It is made from rare tea leaves that account for less than 5% of the total harvest. The tea is freshly harvested from the fields then it is cut in short and uniform shape so it can be easily brewed.

Red Rooibos Tea
Red Rooibos Tea is a popular fermented type of rooibos. It has a rich taste and aroma, and is full-bodied and sweet. It contains many nutrients that are good for your beauty, and is recommended for those who are concerned about caffeine.

Green Rooibos Tea
Green Rooibos Tea is a non-fermented type of rooibos, where fermentation is stopped after harvesting. It is recommended for those who want higher nutritional value, with 10 times the flavonoids of the red variant. It has a taste and aroma similar to green tea, making it easy to drink!
The fermented type red rooibos is the more commonly consumed tea, but the non-fermented green rooibos has many charms that red tea does not have. It has a mild taste and aroma similar to green tea, so it is recommended for those who do not like rooibos tea. It is also gentle on the palate, so the whole family can enjoy it, from children to adults.
What's Special About our Organic Green Rooibos Tea

Goes Well with Other Foods
Its light, unobtrusive flavor goes well with Japanese food and other cuisines. It is also recommended as a meal tea and a staple in your home.

Less Bitterness And Astringency
It contains little tannin, which causes bitterness, so you can enjoy it in your own bottle. The tea bags used are mesh tetra type, which allows the tea leaves to brew easily. Since it is made of biodegradable material, there is no need to worry about harmful substances leaching out.

Perfect for Cold Brew Tea
Kawashimaya's Green Rooibos tea uses tea leaves that have been sterilized using the latest equipment in South Africa. It can also be brewed in cold water without using boiling water.

Carefully Selected Tea Leaves
The tea leaves are picked by contracted farmers and graded and ranked by expert panelists. We only use the best quality teas selected through rigorous testing.
Recommended Point by a Registered Dietitian ② Enjoyable in Any Season
You can quickly enjoy warm green rooibos tea by simply pouring hot water, but for summer, I recommend cold brewing. Just place three tea bags in a 1-liter bottle, and it will be ready in about two hours. Keeping it on hand allows you to enjoy refreshing green rooibos tea anytime.
It doesn’t easily develop bitterness or astringency, even when left in a teapot, making it convenient to store in a thermos or water bottle.

More Nutrients Compared to The Fermented Rooibos

Rooibos tea is packed with nutrients that are good for the body. Green rooibos in particular is even more nutritious than the fermented type, with about four times the total polyphenols of the fermented type. Among these, aspalathin is a flavonoid unique to rooibos, and is about 81 times more abundant than the fermented type. Various research is being conducted on it as it is the most effective antioxidant contained in rooibos.
Green Rooibos Cultivation
Carefully selected, high-quality ingredients from Rooibos Limited, the world's top manufacturer, are vacuum-packed and shipped to Japan in a fresh state. Only products that meet strict standards on a production line dedicated to the Japanese market are shipped. Microorganism and residual pesticide tests are also conducted for each badge. We use fresh tea leaves that are grown according to strict standards and are pesticide-free and without chemical fertilizers.
In addition, the tea leaves are sterilized only once in South Africa. Some manufacturers sterilize them again in Japan, but repeated sterilization may cause the flavor to deteriorate.

Safe Quality with Sterilization Processing
Since 2020, Rooibos Limited has revamped its production line and now manages tea leaves under even stricter quality standards.
By introducing a Japanese-made sterilization machine, the tea leaves undergo high-pressure sterilization without compromising quality. Enjoy delicious and safe cold brews without using boiling water.

Nutritionist’s Recommendation #3: Caffeine-Free for Everyone
Even those who dislike the unique flavor of rooibos tea may find this tea easy to drink. Since it is caffeine-free, it is recommended for children and pregnant women. Adding fermented rooibos tea or barley tea as part of your tea selection can make your daily life richer and more enjoyable.
Additionally, because the tea leaves are brewed as they are, only carefully selected, pesticide-free, and chemical fertilizer-free fresh leaves are used—another great feature.
